Algemeen

Verstelbare maagbandchirurgie, ook wel maagbandchirurgie genoemd, is een minimaal invasieve ingreep die onder algehele narcose wordt uitgevoerd. Door een siliconenband rond het bovenste deel van de maag te plaatsen, creëert de operatie effectief een klein maagzakje boven de band, met de rest van de maag eronder. Who is it for?

    Personen met een Body Mass Index (BMI) van 40 of hoger (ernstige obesitas).

    Mensen met een BMI tussen 35 en 39,9 (obesitas) die ernstige gewichtsgerelateerde gezondheidsproblemen hebben, zoals diabetes type 2, hoge bloeddruk of ernstige slaapapneu.

    Patiënten die geen blijvend gewichtsverlies hebben bereikt door dieet, lichaamsbeweging en/of medicatie.

Recovery Period

    De procedure duurt meestal ongeveer 1 uur en wordt poliklinisch uitgevoerd.

    De hersteltijd varieert. Patiënten kunnen vaak binnen een week weer aan het werk, maar moeten gedurende 4 tot 6 weken zwaar tillen en zware inspanning vermijden.

    Het kan enkele maanden duren voordat uw kind zijn dieet volledig heeft aangepast en zich heeft aangepast aan de nieuwe maagcapaciteit.
